HAPPENING NOW—UK BRIEFING: UK government and health officials hold a briefing to offer updates on the coronavirus outbreak. Over the weekend, the British Medical Association released a report saying that medical professionals across the country did not believe they have a sufficient amount of personal protective equipment (PPE) to take care of coronavirus patients. This is the second report the BMA has released in April detailing the lack of supplies, though UK officials continue to promise that any supply need is being fulfilled. The association’s council chair, Dr. Chaand Nagpaul, commented that ‘two months into the COVID-19 crisis in Britain, we shouldn’t still be hearing that doctors feel unprotected when they go to work.’ There are over 125,000 coronavirus cases in the UK, and at least 16,500 people have died.
