HAPPENING NOW—UK UPDATE: Government officials deliver their daily briefing on the United Kingdom’s response to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The UK now leads all of Europe in total coronavirus-related deaths and is second to only the U.S. worldwide. Chief Scientific Adviser Angela McLean calls the death toll ‘higher than we would wish, I think is all I can say,’ and added that deaths in long term care facilities are also rising, which is something the country must ‘get to grips with.’ The UK currently remains on lockdown, but PM Boris Johnson has alluded to potentially modifying those restrictions sometime next week.
